Community Programs

ABLEWomen
JLFC's Signature Program.
The mission of ABLEWomen is to assist Larimer County women with barriers to self-sufficiency. We provide opportunities to enhance job skills and life skills and to expand professional development and knowledge of community resources through our ABLEWomen Career Closet and our ABLEWomen Mentor Program. JLFC opened the Career Closet in 2007 to provide professional clothing to women for job interviews or for their first days on the job. Each Career Closet client receives the individual attention of a volunteer stylist during a one-hour appointment. We serve at least 500 clients annually.

We also partner with Larimer County Workforce Center (LCWC) on the ABLEWomen Mentor Program which pairs successful women from the community, who volunteer their time, with clients referred from the LCWC. The career coaching offered by the LCWC and the life skills mentoring offered through the Mentor Program complement each other. For six months, the mentor and apprentice will develop life goals, identify obstacles, problem-solve, and develop weekly action plans to attain life goals – with the central focus on self-sufficiency.

Kids in the Kitchen

Kids in the Kitchen
The Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen program, a childhood obesity and nutrition initiative from the Association of Junior Leagues International, is designed to help our communities address the urgent issues surrounding childhood obesity and poor nutrition.

Lincoln Center Children's Imagination Series
JLFC is proud to have helped sponsor the Lincoln Center Super Series for Kids, now the Children's Imagination Series, since 1981. JLFC volunteers serve on the series board and assist the Lincoln Center management to select and market quality programs for children. In addition, JLFC donates 300 season tickets each year to area agencies that work with underpriviledged children.

Done-in-a-Day
Done-In-A-Day is an on-going effort by the Junior League of Fort Collins to organize and coordinate community service projects that can be completed by JLFC volunteers in a matter of hours.

Poudre School District Snack Program
JLFC has partnered with the Poudre School District to provide healthy snacks to children in need in our community. JLFC purchases the snacks and our members bundle and deliver them to students participating in needs-based after school programs at local elementary schools.

Training Future Leaders
A central part of our mission is to improve our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. For over 25 years, JLFC has devoted itself to training its members on the leadership skills necessary to serve our community in a number of capacities.
